[ASOS] Thorinair – Lessons in Friendship | Uplifting Trance

Brony Fandom! Are you ready for A State of Sugar: Chocolate!? Wella, let this dragon pony kick off Horse Music Herald’s coverage with a mythical track. An epic song about our beloved Book Horse and newly crowned ruler of Equestria, Twilight Sparkle!

Thorinair has been away from the scene for a while. What an amazing way to return with a track of epic production!

You want a breathtaking song about her, Then get ready for a real treat!

After everything that has happened in 9 seasons, this track tells one big story: Through all of the trials, the quests, the dangers, the lesson, the hardships, and the seemingly insurmountable odds that Twilight has had to face, she has had the strength and courage to face her own demons and overcome them all. The wonderful beat that carries this track gives you such a big smile, as you can picture Twilight running to this beat through all of these past adventures. Oh, those hyper snap drums before the drops are like a huge burst of positive light hitting you. The slow and emotional melody with such inspiring elements and keyboard notes is so powerful. You feel like you are there with twilight as she passes each test and bests each challenge. She’s never been alone; she had her friends and every single brony standing behind her giving her support. You really can see her grow as a character as the song progresses. There is a section right in the middle of the track that builds up into this emotional drop that will give you chills. It recalls a great moment from the series finale, when Twilight’s friends believed in her when she didn’t believe in herself and the stakes were so high. We all watched our screens and believed in her when she felt she had messed up so badly and failed everyone she loved. (you can watch that clip here) When that drop happens, it is like the moment when Twilight found her resolve and became a hero that refused to be stopped. This track is so powerful and so uplifting, you will be yelling “BOOK HORSE!” with passion. This is the Twilight song that we needed. As always this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[Equinity] Power Note – Backdoor | Techno

This right here is a genre that needs to be shown off in the fandom more often! This 100% good ol’ fashion techno. It goes right into the theme of Equinity 3. The awesome melody embodies the mascot of the label trying to make a great escape from a grand heist. The beats and effects really push the tempo on the drama of this story. Each of the effects, like the use of the keyboard notes, the rumbling and rolling pace and even the harmonies used as well are nice. The pounding bass with the grindy buzz sounds like an alarm system going off and she has to swiftly leave before she is trapped. Oh, and a nice little easter egg at the end there as well. Techno still is one of the best genres of electronic music and needs to be used so much more in my opinion. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

[Equinity] Single Purpose – Blue Coated Smug Horse VIP | Glitch-Hop

So how do you make a track better when it was already featured on P@D: Skyward? (You can listen to that track here). I’d say this is upping the game here.
So… If you like a track about how annoying Trixie is, then here you go, fans of Trixie. As said by my colleague Canatime in our in Equinity 3 album review, the track is full of elements that really highlight Trixie’s personality traits, being that they are annoying and cute at the same time. As said by him, a delightful reese bass sound, incredibly mixed drums, a smooth lead and even cheeky vocal chop all highlight Trixie’s character in a well composed package. Single Purpose sure has a winner here. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Studio Quinn – Alone (feat. JustKat and Koron Korak) | Orchestral Rock

Oh, the wonders of making music based on the fandom’s headcanons… Now, just to be clear, it’s long been said that Twilight will not outlive her friends. That has not been changed or been confirmed by Big Jim Miller.

However! That doesn’t mean that wonderful music can be made from it, like this track! There are many pretty yet somber aspects to the composition of this track by Quinn. The vibe of the melody goes with the thumbnail artwork and the orchestra elements are wonderful. You really feel for Twilight as the bittersweet vocals of JustKat tells that story to really sell it. You have the fantastic violin from the one and only maestro Koron Korak to further those feels. It’s a very unsettling feeling for the new ruler of Equestria. Poor Twilight… As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

SlightlyAmiss – Life to Lead (feat. Acouste Wholenote) | Hard Rock

Some musicians really get it. The start of this track has a profound message for many in this fandom. That piano solo paired with Acouste Wholenote‘s gentle vocal) says it all. There has been a dark cloud over the brony fandom since the series finale, but it doesn’t have to be that way, and don’t quit with the brony spirit; keep that vibrant and positive energy going! This is a song the fandom needs to hear; these musicians like Pony Life and plan on keeping the power of brony music going!

AC-527 – Feelin’ Pinkie Keen | House

Lovey, sugarly, and positive. Those are the words that come to my mind when I hear the very bubbly and hyper melodies of this song about Pinkie Pie. You can say what you want about Pinkie Pie, and sure, maybe you think her overly happy persona is a bit much. However, listen to how this track is composed and the Pinkie vocal chops used in it. They show the moments where Pinkie is not being hyper but just bringing joy and fun to those around her. AC here was inspired by a fanfic by CrystalChameleon to compose this track and it really shows the real spirit of Pinkie Pie. Just listen. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

FritzyBeat & Steven, A.D. – The Day the Sun Dies | Electropop

We are going to be a little less serious here with the next track. There is something really wholesome to this track. Fritzy promised Steven he would finish this track, and 4 years later, that promise was fulfilled ( The whole story is in description of the video)! The song is really catchy with surprisingly swell melodies and gives it to Fritzy to throw down some bars with some rhymes! The song itself is about Celestia retiring and funnily enough, how Steven predicted the outcome of FiM. The song is quite humorous. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself. I’d like to add that old style fandom music doesn’t always mean outdated though.

DAϟH x Fantasy – 1,000 Year Old Equine Remains – The Remix EP | Multi-Genre

Now this is a fun little EP here! The topic of choice is Luna’s shift into Nightmare Moon.
Evident by the use of vocal chops throughout the EP, that takes a different twist on the event based on the genres used. DAϟH and his friends at Equestrian Terror Corps dive into the realm of experimentation. The outcome is a small group of tracks that puts a different set of emotion on the event. Let’s have a look at this fun little project.

Bayanic – Hadron Sonata | Progressive Rock

In the means of revamping past songs for an improved effort of production, Bayanic has pledged to recompose his Equinelibrium album. Off to a great start with this really catchy song if you ask me. This one creates an OST-like sound by mixing some old school techno elements, along with pleasing keyboards tones and some really fun Prog Rock guitars and drums. The melody dances around to some extremely catchy music that you just want to go for a power walk while doing the grocery shopping!  I want to hear more! StableTwoStallion – Böse Stuten (Koron Korak Remix) | Dark Synth

(Listen to the original here!)

Translated to “Bad Mares”. Korak said over a hundred hours were put into making this track. If you ask this metalhead’s opinion, I will tell you that everything going on here is awesome! The dark and hard goth metal sound was not replaced but integrated into the dirty and grinding synths, but that’s not all! We got chainsaws and this wonderful and chilling symphony organ at work here. The electronic elements complement the unsettling feel of this track so well, yet however with a hollow sounding choir in the background and those awesome lyrics in German. It feels like you walked into a buzzsaw of twisted MLP characters. This would also work out great in a fight scene in a grimdark fanfic honestly. Grimdark narrators, take note of this! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.
