Well, I certainly didn’t expect this great of a pop song to ever come across my ears, but here we are! We start out immediately thrown into the fun, upbeat pop beat and soon Childlike Wonder’s amazing vocals set in, neither of the two parts really take single center stage, which for this song fits really well as there is nothing in focus but there’s a harmony of all elements during the lyrical sections. When the lyrics go quiet is when you can really appreciate how much the instrumental can stand on its own. With a guitar joining the pop beat, we also get a good taste of future bass vibes later in the track too. The drop/chorus is a wonderful combination of the fun upbeat pop sounds together with fire rock elements, which makes for a great track overall!

Francis Vace – Fading | Rock
Francis Vace was out of action a little when it comes to music over the last year or two compared to his regular output, but recently he’s hopped back on the release train with a plethora of awesome tracks that now make up this newly released album, Fading. There’s plenty to enjoy throughout this thoroughly cohesive experience, as it blends elements of pop, punk and electronica into a wonderful rock experience. There’s also support from collaborators too with features from TCB, Koa, Luck Rock, Jade Kelly and Scoonie. The consistency in feeling between all the tracks in the album driven most pointedly by the tone of guitars across tracks helps to make it a thoroughly cohesive experience, but with the help of the other collaborators there’s also more than enough variety to keep things interesting the whole way through.

Sound Bandit and Fetlocked have teamed up to create a masterpiece! The signature hyperpop-esque vocals with a fast and chaotic breakbeat rhythm while still reigning in that energy with a soothing, beautiful melody leads to an interesting melancholic experience! Break the Cycle / Sleepless Nights somehow gets the blood pumping while managing an atmosphere where the listener can just lean back on a rooftop in retrospect. The Fluttershy vocal chops in the breakdown just add to the overall ambience of this relaxed, yet restless piece. Perfect for a sleepless night.
Vylet Pony – can opener’s notebook: fish whisperer | Indie Pop
Aside from ridiculously high quality production and sound design, Vylet Pony has a knack for relating to the world of Equestria and the creatures within it. Her connection to the show is poetically romantic as demonstrated through her concepts and music. can opener’s notebook: fish whisperer is the story of a neurodivergent unicorn going from overachieving marine biologist to aspiring musician after relocating to a quiet cabin on the Yakyakistan coast. Featuring lots of sudden track change-ups, full soundscapes, a prevailing theme of “you are/aren’t a real musician“, and so much more, every song is immersive into the coastal atmosphere and risky yet fulfilling nature of Canni (the protagonist).

Continue readingCaedon Hawk – Underwater | Pop
Caedon Hawk ponders the challenges of being a musical creator with this softly soulful track. The artist delivers their introspective analysis with fantastic vocals that float softly over a subtly groovy bassline and melody. Ultimately, the artist resolves to fight through the doubt that can result in that “underwater” feeling and chase after their dreams, and it’s my hope that anyone struggling with their own self-doubt will find the drive to do the same!
Luck Rock – Between the Stars and the Sea (feat. RadRiveter) | Pop Ballad
Luck Rock’s “Between the Stars and the Sea” is musical storytelling straight from the heart. Lyrical beauty paired with conversational-style vocals and pared-down instrumentation highlight the heart’s search for meaning, purpose, and guidance originating from someone or something beyond ourselves. The stars hold forth the hope of eternity and guiding light from above, while the sea’s drifting depths and punishing waves call these into question. Luck Rock’s almost journalistic-style lyrics help us realize that we’re not alone in our quest for meaning, purpose, and light from above and encourage us to keep looking up when feeling caught between the stars and the sea.
Vylet Pony – i’ve still got something to teach you | Prog Pop
Editor’s note: what even is genre?
I adore story-telling, whether it be through music, miniature table-top games, or movies. The magic of experiencing how someone sees and builds their world is a wonderful experience. This is why I’m ABOLUTELY HYPED for Vylet Pony’s new upcoming album “Fish Whisperer”! Vylet takes her projects like this song in a truly magical and amazing direction! Dare I say, this is a(nother) magnum opus of hers! The sudden switches, the majestic vocals, the mood and ambience elevating higher and higher; it’s truly amazing! Canni Trout isn’t bluffing when our lovely fish friend says that there is SOOO MUCH to show, experience, feel and, of course, to learn. Thank you for this wonderful lesson, Canni!
MathematicPony – Dealbreaker (Redux) | Pop
If you know anything about MathematicPony, you’ll know how gorgeous she sounds in the original Dealbreaker. This redux highlights so much of her growth over the six years since: incredibly captivating composition, with mesmerizing ebb & flow; absolutely beautiful vocals, expertly capturing the pain and confusion Twilight feels; and of course, putting such a new spin on a pony classic that conveys a whole plethora of new emotion and tension. Lots more goodies to come from MathematicPony too, so stay tuned!
4EverfreeBrony – I Wish I Could Stand On A Cloud | Pop Rock
4EverfreeBrony recently released his new album Lost & Found at the end of last year, with plenty of wonderful tracks. This one has just hit YouTube, and features more than a little inspiration from musician Bill Wurtz. Those familiar with his style would immediately be at home with the jazzy, vibrant instrumentation, abrupt tonal shifts in vocalisation and the excellent PMV designed in a similar video style by CreeperZone as well.
