EveryDayDashie – Spring Festival Encore 新春欢腾 | Epic Orchestral / World

It’s always a treat to hear the My Little Pony lick in a different musical style & on different instruments, especially when it is styled & mixed together with something as epic as traditional Chinese orchestra & musical storytelling. EveryDayDashie seems to reward us with a new style for every one of their songs, this time focusing more on a traditional Chinese style. But don’t let the name or style throw you off, this track is more than Chinese orchestral as we know it, adding non-traditional Chinese instruments to the mix like the unification of cultures; I still can’t get over the electric guitar stealing the show like the dramatic tension in a narrative. This song definitely felt like I was in the middle of a festival for sure, celebrating traditions of both past & present, and most importantly, giving us that feeling of a complete story.

EveryDayDashie – Pony Mission Voyage | World

EveryDayDashie’s “Pony Mission Voyage” sounds just like the name suggests—it’s a rhythmic adventure taking the listener across a vast number of soundscapes, each inspired by a different tradition! In it, you’ll hear many different folk instruments like sitars and xylophones mixed with orchestral and brass hits. There’s even some synths snuck in here and there, with a dubstep-like section in the middle that blends its bass with the other folk instruments, creating a unique sound. Of course, it wouldn’t be EveryDayDashie without a few melodic MLP references to complete the track. Fantastic work!

EveryDayDashie – Pezuña al Corazón | Latin Rock

Here we go!~ with this lovely tune made by the oh so amazing EveryDayDashie! I knew that Dashie was amazing in EVERY direction he goes when talking music…but Latin Rock? That’s just amazing! I believe, it truly speaks volumes on how talented this person is! Dashie delivers us today; Pezuña al Corazón. Which is Spanish for “hoof to heart”. A TRUE code to live by, and expressed wonderfully throughout this song with an out-of-this-world passion for G5 with a Latin tint added unto it! Epic vocals, epic drums, wonderful melodies! It’s ALWAYS a pleasure to write for Dashie. Keep being you, and keep spreading your wonderful messages of love and endearment for the ponies we love!

Nyanakaru – Methodic Ways To Break A Mind | Electronic Album

After at least a year in the making, Nyanakaru has finally completed his newest album. As it happens, we’ve actually covered each one of these single releases so far (some under his former alias). You can check those out below. The last addition to this is True Colors, an intensely dark and heavy glitchy drumstep-like song – I’m not entirely sure how to describe it, so I recommend taking a listen yourself!

See our previous posts for; Clear My Head, Falling Apart, Sixty Twenty Twelve, The Brightness and Oneiromancy.

Nyanakaru – Oneiromancy | Polka / Trap

Editor’s note: mild content warning

Naynakaru, over the past eleven months, has been creating something special on his channel. A series of music videos called “Methodic Ways To Break a Mind”. To put it best, it’s some of his best work to date with the magic of mixing genres that he’s got a natural talent for, paired with some engaging animated videos. A mystery surrounding this strange book comes to a head with AJ integrating a perplexed Sweetie Belle! The significant part is that Polka has been paired with Trap and works so well with the scene you are watching unfold here! It adds drama, insanity, and intrigue to this ongoing series of events! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself!

Nyanakaru – Someone Like You | Corrido Tumbado

Nyanakaru (a.k.a. Nyancat380) brings us something a bit different than their usual flair. “Someone Like You” has an almost relaxing vibe that lures you into a false sense of ease as the lyrics initially sound like a love song. Don’t get too relaxed though, as there’s a twist which the chilling artwork by Highroller alludes to. The mixing puts you in the center of the band as the instrumentals immerse your ears, switching between surround sound with different instruments in each ear and a single more monotone guitar, all while maintaining an old-timey phonographic vibe. This track is RariJack to the extreme and, while slightly creepy, is still a bop worth listening to.

Raramena, anyone?

ILLUMNATION – Longest Night II: The Dawn (feat. Koron Korak) | Folk

ILLUMNATION always manage to create wonderful folk atmospheres, and this track is yet another lovely example of that. With beautiful vocals from Velvet, there’s also some very cool and creative instrumentation usage that gives an adventurous atmosphere to the track.

Jyc Row – Year Of The Tiger | Orchestral

Jyc Row’s orchestral output has been consistent as ever over the first month of 2022, and now he’s welcomed in the Chinese new year with this track created for the Equestria Spring Festival Celebration, an online convention based in China. With some appropriate use of erhu alongside soaring strings and steady percussion it gives a lovely uplifting vibe to help welcome the new year.

PSFMer – Unicorn Attack | Techno / Afro-Beat

PSFMer doesn’t stop amazing us with his tracks, especially with his brand new release “Unicorn Attack”, which is centered around the new generation movie! This track is a curious but perfect mix of Afro Percussion and Techno, a rare combination that we have seen very sparingly in the fandom, and features vocals from G5 as well as audio by 15.ai. The whole track is a vibe that makes you wanna move your body! The song starts with a constantly growing and evolving percussion rhythm, little by little layering more percussive sounds, like if the track were coming alive. After all this drum craziness, we got some vocal chops, including Hitch screaming the song title – very crazy stuff going on this track! This is a cool and groovy track, so please don’t hesitate to check it out!

[P@D] MirroredReality – Alpenglow | Psytrance / World Music

MirroredReality’s penchant for blending classical instrumentation with electronic elements has created another masterpiece! This particular tune, featured on the “P@D: Aurora” album, is inspired in parts by the song “Alpine Skyline” from the game “A Hat in Time” and MLP’s Yakyakistan, and those respective inspirations are melded fantastically herein. An echoey percussive melody opens the track, and it is soon joined by a synth line that climbs with it through a beautiful melody while light percussion supports the arrangement. Things really take off with the introduction of strings, which add a lovely texture to the melody before the psytrance pulses to the fore backed by a choir melody, a shift that pumps up the energy without losing the flavor of the track. The shifts in pitch on the synth melody give it a world music vibe, the past melding with the new, before the arrangement fades. Another shift brings a whole world-music-flavored electronic arrangement, and the sound design is so good on the synths and chimes that they sound organic, machinery mimicking life. The climb into the psytrance drop and progression to the end have more little shifts that add dynamic flavor. I hope that you will enjoy as much as I did this beautiful track that is a credit to the artist’s imagination and skilled production.
