FritzyBeat & Steven, A.D. – The Day the Sun Dies | Electropop

We are going to be a little less serious here with the next track. There is something really wholesome to this track. Fritzy promised Steven he would finish this track, and 4 years later, that promise was fulfilled ( The whole story is in description of the video)! The song is really catchy with surprisingly swell melodies and gives it to Fritzy to throw down some bars with some rhymes! The song itself is about Celestia retiring and funnily enough, how Steven predicted the outcome of FiM. The song is quite humorous. As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself. I’d like to add that old style fandom music doesn’t always mean outdated though.

Toby Macarony – Cloudsdale Sunset | Alternate Electronic

Another fantastic track from Toby Macarony’s wonderfully inventive Shenanigans Two album, “Cloudsdale Sunset” began life as a chiptune/electronic track and morphed into a funky electronic jam that somehow blends guitar, saxophone, vocal chops, vocoder voices, and “epic choirs”! The electronic elements keep the song bouncing and buzzing along, but the other components masterfully support them, especially the saxophone, either layered in with the main melody or having strong moments of their own. The adroit composition billows into glorious walls of noise that send the listener careening through the clouds and rainbow waterfalls. TM’s distinctive vocal elements skip along with the blissful music, and they even cleverly repurpose Fluttershy’s “So Many Wonders“, formerly an profession of love for life on the ground, for the chorus! After listening, you just may want to start looking for a room in the Cloudominium!

StableTwoStallion – Böse Stuten (Koron Korak Remix) | Dark Synth

(Listen to the original here!)

Translated to “Bad Mares”. Korak said over a hundred hours were put into making this track. If you ask this metalhead’s opinion, I will tell you that everything going on here is awesome! The dark and hard goth metal sound was not replaced but integrated into the dirty and grinding synths, but that’s not all! We got chainsaws and this wonderful and chilling symphony organ at work here. The electronic elements complement the unsettling feel of this track so well, yet however with a hollow sounding choir in the background and those awesome lyrics in German. It feels like you walked into a buzzsaw of twisted MLP characters. This would also work out great in a fight scene in a grimdark fanfic honestly. Grimdark narrators, take note of this! As always, this Qilin asks you to judge for yourself.

Koron Korak – A Last Melody | Organ Solo

Koron Korak’s seventh musical tribute to his late brother is A Last Melody, an orchestral piece that utilises an organ and violin as the central instruments. The two play in harmony with a melody that compliments each other well, the overall vibe sounding sad yet cathartic, eventually building up to a climax with the violin’s high note which represents Koron’s voice. This song, as mentioned by Koron, is his way of saying words of goodbye that he wasn’t able to say at the time…

RedSpark – The letter and a journey ahead | Orchestral

Endeavors both literary and musical at the same time are scarce, but always appreciated. This kind of art piece is precisely what Red Spark began with their fanfiction and symphonic poem A tale of Starlight. “The letter and a journey ahead” is the second movement of the symphony, meant to be played while reading “Information and the Journey ahead,” the second chapter of the fanfiction. Taking inspiration from film scores, Red Spark depicts the fears of Starlight and Trixie embarking on their journey, but also their excitement as the song becomes brighter halfway through.

SDreamExplorerS – Ildy pad Ružovymi Kryłami (feat. Velvet R. Wings, Koron Korak & Pavel Lipski) | Folk Metal

SDreamExplorerS or Soul Strings is about to release a new album, Ephemeral III: Imhnieńnie Ščaścia, a folk metal album with vocals in Belarussian and the third part of the Ephemeral circle. It will release on the 28th of August, but pre-orders are available. Alternatively, bandcamp will cut out its fees on the 4th of September, which is a great opportunity to support awesome artists like SDreamExplorerS. This track is a single from the upcoming album. As per usual from him, there’s a lot to listen to in the song, including plenty of acoustic intruments like Koron Korak‘s violin or the dulcimer programmed by Pavel Lipski, all professionaly mixed. And as always, Velvet R. Wings and Soul Strings’ vocals work together beautifully despite being polar opposites, each vocalist getting a solo part too.

[P@D] Francis Vace & Koa – Pegasissy | Pop Punk

“Pegasissy” is one of the many Koa collabs from Ponies at Dawn Ignite. Here, she teamed up with Francis Vace and together they retold Fluttershy’s struggle to gain self-confidence. The assertiveness in Koa’s voice could not be more fitting and the layering with Francis’ backing vocals works like a charm. The guitar, the bassline and the drum fills are on point and responsible for half of what makes the track so catchy, the other one being the vocal melodies. The fact that Koa draws the background art for nearly all her Ponies at Dawn tracks is also a really nice touch.
